Earlier in class we discussed civil disobedience and I recently found a great example of this on Twitter. A man was allegedly planning a trip to Ireland to meet someone that he had met over the internet. When he found out that the airport was closed, he tweeted “Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your sh_t together otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!”. The airport officials caught wind of this, and prosecuted. The man ended up being fined a couple thousand dollars.

Almost overnight, people began retweeting his post with the hash tag #IAmSpartacus. Due to these efforts, people have banded together and offered to pay his fine.
